Jeff's 66 Mustang had been in storage for around 3 years after a botched carb replacement. another shop had talked him into replacing the original 2brl carb & intake with an aftermarket intake and used Holly 650 which I was told leaked badly and ran even worse. In top of that the trans stopped shifting right after the switch and out of frustration Jeff put the car into storage.
Fast forward to now when Jeff called and explained the situation I suggested re-building the original 500 cfm 2brl

Mustang is in quite good condition for age and time in storage

Mustang has very little to no body rot

car is numbers matching with originnal 289 & C4 trans.
Note heater disconected

Here is the original intake cleaned & painted with original carb rebuilt by Dick Dean.
The 4brl intake was very loose (bolts) and had never been properly installed

Because the owner did not want the heater hooked back up did not mean we didn't still need to have hot coolant running beside the choke to warm it. I also replaced the heat tube from exhaust manifold

All cleaned up and running perfectly

Once moved to the hoist, engine got an oil change, checked all brakes & lights to make sure Mustang was ready for the road

We washed the Mustang brfore the road test so I could see through the windows
